Six Arrested After €12M Heist on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

A team of six suspects using high-powered firearms employed explosives to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, slightly injuring five workers during what appears to be the newest significant daylight theft to affect the nation.

The bold operation took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and retrieving the loot valued at approximately €12M (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt from the blast, and three of them were taken to a medical facility for assessment, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The individuals, believed to be career criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, France, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who took part in the heist was taken into custody as well, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The robbery occurred as law enforcement in France on Thursday detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in relation to this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four thieves who used a vehicle featuring an elevating platform and cutting tools to breach a first-floor gallery at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In another notable incident, robbers the previous month broke into the French capital's Natural History Museum, making off with gold samples worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was taken into custody recently in Barcelona in relation to the burglary, officials confirmed.

The sequence of heists has raised concerns in the country regarding lax security at museums and various establishments housing valuable items.
