The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. During a period often marked by cynicism, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family go about their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
