The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “six-seven” – originating from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
